ABOUT THE LONG ISLAND MUSEUM
For nearly 80 years the Long Island Museum has been working to preserve and interpret nationally and internationally recognized collections of art, horse-drawn vehicles, and historic artifacts and buildings. For 25 years the annual Holiday Celebration Gala & Silent Auction has helped raise the necessary funds for the museum's world-class exhibitions and education programs, and has enabled museum staff to share the spirit of the season with our community.
In 2006 the Long Island Museum was chosen to join a select group of museums and cultural institutions nationwide as a Smithsonian Affiliate. The prestigious honor affords the museum greater access to Smithsonian collections and educational resources.
The museum's audience includes visitors from throughout Long Island and the world. Nearly 7,500 school children have benefitted from the museum's Ride's for Kids program and approximately 1,300 people living with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of memory loss and their caregivers have benefitted from our In the Moment program.
All of this is not possible without your support of the annual Holiday Celebration event, our largest fundraiser of the year. Please join us in celebrating its Silver Anniversary!
